Koforidua, July 04, GNA - Mr Tawiah Boateng, Eastern Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Friday urged polling station organizers to mount an aggressive campaign in the communities to enable the party to improve on its performance in the region.

"We want to improve upon the six Parliamentary seats we currently have in the region and to get at least 56 percent in the Presidential results," he said. Mr Boateng, who was addressing polling station organizers in the region reminded the participants that failure to win more seats would make it difficult for Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Presidential Candidate of the party, to implement his policies when he wins the December polls.

He said because of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) majority in Parliament, unpopular decisions were being implemented and thus inflicting hardships on Ghanaians. Mr Boateng urged the organizers to go on a door-to-door campaign to sell the laudable ideals of the NDC to the electorate to be able to cling victory in December.

The Regional Organizer urged the participants to be in position to recruit dedicated party members for the forth-coming voters' registration and exhibition exercise and to make sure that NDC supporters checked their names in the register. He urged them to be in a position to counteract any negative propaganda against the NDC and its Flag-bearer. Mr Boateng appealed to former NDC Ministers, District Chief Executives, Ambassadors and all who held prominent positions in government to come on board and assist the party in winning the elections hands down.

He said there was the need for them to come down to explain the positive achievements of the NDC to the electorate so that the youth especially would appreciate what the government did during its tenure of office.
