New assemblies to give impetus to socio-economic progress

The Chairman of Council of State, Daasebre Otuo Serebour II, has welcomed the creation of new municipal and district assemblies, saying, they would strengthen local governance and provide impetus to the socio-economic progress of the people.

He therefore rallied everybody to give strong backing to the assemblies and to accept to pull together to ensure their smooth and efficient operation.

Daasebre Otuo Serebuor, who is the Omanhene of Juaben, was speaking at a ceremony held in Juaben to inaugurate the newly established Juaben Municipal Assembly.

It was carved out of the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

The Omanhene said apart from the direct and indirect job opportunities, they would pave way for social and infrastructure development.

He advised the assembly members and the staff to work with a lot of energy and unity of purpose to improve the quality of life of the people.

He underlined the need for openness, transparency and accountability in the management of the assembly’s resources.

He pledged the unwavering support of the chiefs towards the smooth running of the new assembly.

Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, entreated all stakeholders to give it their all to make the government’s ‘Ghana beyond aid’ vision, a dream come true.

He gave the assurance that everything would be done to assist the new assemblies to properly function.
