In a recent report by the Global InfoAnalytics, some Ghanaians have tipped some prominent personalities in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as their preferred candidate to lead in the 2028 Election.

The list also shows that some new names emerged as the most liked candidates, although the former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, topped the poll.

The emergence of the new faces provides details as to who people prefer to become the vice presidential candidate of the NPP in the 2028 general elections, with the likes of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Agyapong; the MP for Abetifi Constituency, Dr Bryan Acheampong; former Minister of Education and MP for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyapong, prominently featuring.

According to the Executive Director and Lead Researcher of Gobal InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, the findings emerged from a poll conducted between the last three months.

He stated that Dr Bawumia will have to prepare for a difficult tussle because the election will be more fierce than the last election, particularly if he wins the bid to lead the NPP in 2028.

The poll also showed that most Ghanaians did not vote in the last elections over low interest in the Ghanaian democracy, government performance and the same voting patterns over the years.

The big question remains, will Dr Bawumia, granted he becomes the NPP flagbearer for 2028, be willing to select any of these candidates to contest in the 2028 elections with him, especially regarding the many ongoing dynamics in their party after the huge 2024 Election defeat?
