The New Patriotic Party (NPP)Parliamentary Candidate for Klottey Korley constituency, Lawyer Philip Addison’s camp says the decision by Valentino Nii Noi Nortey to run as an independent candidate shows clearly that the latter does not have the interest of NPP at heart.

Michael Nana Nkansah, coordinator for Philip Addison, made this remark in an interview with Kasapa News on their reaction to Nii Noi’s decision.

“If Nii Noi loves his party and wishes that Nana Akufo-Addo emerges as president in the upcoming election, he should avail himself to the Addison team to work together for the good of NPP,” he said.

He cautioned Nii Noi not to allow his disapproval of lawyer Addison’s candidature to override his passion for the party.

Addison’s spokesperson added that “Nii Noi’s decision to go independent will however not affect Lawyer Addison’s votes in any way in the November 2016 general election because they remained focused.

It will be recalled that on February 27, 2016 the NPP had a rerun of the Korley Klottey constituency Parliamentary primaries at the party’s head office after Addison’s contested the declaration of Nii Noi as the NPP parliamentary candidate in the first primaries.

Addison was declared winner by the Electoral Commission as NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Korley Klottey after beating Nii Noi in the rerun, a decision the latter and his supporters were dissatisfied with.

Nii Noi and his supporters left the party office that day unceremoniously without signing to accept the outcome of the election.

Days later, Nii Noi’s camp disclosed that he will be running for the same constituency in the election not on the ticket of the NPP but as an independent candidate.
