Nkoranza(BA), July 14, GNA - Mr Kwasi Appiah-Bekoe 47, a businessman has been elected Parliamentary Aspirant of the Convention People's Party (CPP)for Nkoranza South Constituency by popular acclamation for Election 2008. Addressing a mammoth rally after the election supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission at Nkoranza, Mr Appiah-Bekoe commended the delegates for their support and encouragement and pledged to win the seat.
He said education was a major priority and when elected would establish a scholarship scheme to support brilliant but needy students. Mr Appiah-Bekoe said the youth would be assisted to engage in agriculture after negotiations with the assembly to plough hectares to increase agricultural production.
He advised the youth to refrain from social vices that could affect the Party and appealed to the electorate to support and vote massively for the Party during the December 7 polls.
Mr Emmanuel Campbell Dapaah, Nkoranza South Constituency Chairman of CPP said about 400 people had registered and obtained Party identity cards.
Mr Kofi Frimpong, Nkoranza District Electoral Officer, advised politicians to guard against campaign of insults and acrimony, because that could mar the success of the elections.
Two other parliamentary aspirants to contest the seat are, Mr Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, Deputy Minister for Energy and incumbent Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, National Democratic Congress (NDC).
