Nkoranza South NDC to elect new executives

Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 25, GNA - Members of the Nkoranza South Constituency branch of National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold a conference at Nkoranza on August 26, to elect executive members to steer the affairs of the party towards the 2008 election. Mr Owusu Baffoe, Constituency Chairman, who disclosed this in an interview with Ghana News Agency said he would seek re-election to be able to organise the members well to reclaim the constituency seat for the party in the election.

"NDC lost to the New Patriotic Party in the constituency in the 2004 election because members relaxed and allowed themselves to be deceived by opposing party members", he said.

Mr Baffoe implored all other contestants for the executive positions to ensure that they were ready to offer sacrificial services and to win more members for the party.

Mr Baffoe asked members to remain united and to guard against petty squabbles to be able to organise themselves and others to join them to ensure victory in the 2008 election.

In another development, Mr Kwabena Fosu-Fofie, former District Youth Co-ordinator of the Nkoranza National Youth Council and an NDC activist has defected to the NPP.

He told Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that he appreciated the efforts and governance of the NPP Government with regard to the peace and stability that the nation was enjoying.

The former youth co-ordinator said he had also been motivated by the appointments in the party, which he observed were based on the patronage and commitment of members.

Mr Fosu-Fofie commended President John Agyekum Kufuor for appointing Mr James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah as the District Chief Executive for Nkoranza.

He described M. Appiah-Awuah as a committed person who is able to organise people for development programmes and that his appointment was in the right direction. He urged the people to support the new DCE so he could help advance the development of the District.

Mr. Fosu-Fofie urged the people to bury their political differences and forge ahead in unity for the development of the area "since politics is all about development".
