*STATEMENT BY THE NKRUMAIST CAUCUS COMMENDING BRONG AHAFO CPP-PNC ALLIANCE*

Ghana is being visited by an indecent polarization in our political life, both across parties and within parties. It is for this reason that, we, the Nkrumahist caucus in Parliament heartily and sincerely commend the steps taken by the Brong Ahafo Regional Executives of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to bring our two parties closer together in anticipation of a formal alliance that will enable the CPP and the PNC to contest the 2012 elections as one bloc.

We are convinced that both parties belong together, in unison, and our unity provides Ghanaians with an effective alternative political force that can promote the welfare of our people.

The fact that this initiative has emerged from the grass-roots is a clear indication that Ghanaians are looking up to popular forces to halt the growing polarization in politics that has gripped our country. This bottom-up approach also characterizes the Nkrumaist approach that is in tune with the wishes and will of the people of Ghana.

We will do all we can to impress upon the respective leadership of both the CPP and PNC to build on this historic step and we call on all executives of PNC and CPP across the country to follow in the steps of our Brong Ahafo colleagues and take measures to consolidate our unity.

We strongly believe that the unification of the Nkrumaist parties and progressive Nkrumaist groups is inevitable under a sincere and dynamic leadership of the two parties. And we are convinced that only a unified Nkrumaist political machinery can deliver to our people and effect the economic self-reliance that is urgently needed under these national and global economic crises, cultural decay and social malaise.

The Nkrumaist caucus in Parliament comprises three MPs.

Hon. Samia Nkrumah (CPP), 024 2203 492

Hon. Alhassan Azong (PNC),

Hon. Haruna Bayariga (PNC).
