Kodie (Ash), June 8, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated that there is no estrangement between those who supported Dr Kwesi Botchwey, leading member of the Party and those of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Flag Bearer of the Party.
Mr Asiedu Keteke, Deputy Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NDC, who said this, pointed out that anybody who talked of such enmity or division did not want to see the progress and success of NDC.
He was addressing a meeting and inauguration of the newly created Kwabre West Constituency Executive of the NDC at Kodie on Sunday. Mr Asiedu Keteke asked the executive members to be committed to their work, adding that, they should allow respect and discipline to prevail between them and members at all levels.
He charged them to work extra hard to woo all sympathisers, supporters and members of the Party into their fold so that the party would be sure of a resounding victory in Election 2004.
He stressed that a political party was not built on backbiting or divisions but on unity and common aspirations.
Inaugurating the executive committee, which has Alhaji Haruna Tahiru, a Businessman as Chairman, Mr Akwasi Abayie, Ashanti Regional Organiser of the Party, told them that the task ahead was enormous and they should, therefore, be courageous.
He said the New Patriotic Party Government had not been able to live up to expectation and there was therefore the possibility that NDC could win back the seat if they explained issues properly to the electorate.
Mr Abayie called on the Party's supporters to be law-abiding to ensure peaceful and successful elections this year, giving the assurance that the NDC was going to win the elections.
Mr Ernest Opoku-Fofie, Chairman of the Kwabre East Constituency of the NDC, advised the Executives and the members to gear their efforts towards winning the election for the party.
He stressed the need for them to close their ranks and work as a team, adding that the support for the Party at the moment was higher than in 2000 as the people could now compare the rule of the NPP and that of the NDC.
Mr Opoku-Fofie commended members, who had remained resolute to ensure the development and progress of the Party in the area and advised that they eschewed in-fighting, power struggling and other attitudes that could drive members away.
Alhaji Tahiru called on the members to co-operate with them to fight for the success of the Party for it to come back to continue with its good works.
Other members of the executive are Nana Adu Ansre, Vice-Chairman; Mr Kyei Mensah, Secretary; Mr Gabriel Amakye, Organiser and Mr Atta Yeboah Ibrahim, Youth Organiser.
