Authorities at the 37 Military Hospital have debunked reports that there has been pressure on their facilities as a result of the strike by public sector doctors across the nation.

“There is no pressure whatsoever,” stressed the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Hospital.

Madam Christine Atepor said even the numbers after the June 3 disaster were well managed by the military hospital.

Doctors in the public sector withdrew their out-patient services in protest against what they described as the non-existence of proper conditions of service.

They have threatened to withdraw in-patient and emergency services after Friday, August 7, hoping to climax their industrial action with a mass resignation after August 14.

As a result of their action over the past week, there has been pressure on some hospitals, especially private ones, in terms of out-patient records.

The Police Hospital, for instance, had to recall staff on leave while tents have been erected to manage the numbers, which have since reduced, according to PRO Faustina Nunekpeku.

But 37 Hospital says: “The numbers are not overwhelming”.

“We have a few doctors on leave and some who were on passes have all been recalled to beef up the staff who are already on the ground.”
