Tamale, Jan. 28, GNA - The Northern Regional branch of the People's National Convention (PNC) on Friday accused and condemned Dr Somtim Tubiga, a member of the party, of indulging in divisive acts that would affect the fortunes of the party in Election 2012.

Alhaji Zakaria Alhassan, Northern Regional chairman of the party, said in a statement that 93We the Northern Regional executives including ward a= nd district leaders have unanimously condemned the deeds act acts of Dr Tubiga= , which in many ways is dividing and bringing confusion to the party." It said Dr Tubiga's acts of division and confusion had resulted in legal suits pending at the law courts, which was affecting the party's ea= rly congress to choose leaders for the 2012 election. Dr Tubiga allegedly aided in locking up PNC offices in Accra, which le= d to a legal suit pending at the law courts and was delaying the party from organizing its delegates' congress to choose its leaders

The statement said 93As a party in opposition, the crucial thing to d= o to attract more followings is to remain united. There is the need for us al= l to have the interest of the party at heart by living beyond our selfish interests." The statement claimed both NPP and the NDC had failed to meet the aspirations of Ghanaians and that the PNC was the only alternative to both parties saying, 93We cannot sit down and allow some few members such as Tubiga to disorganize the party." It advised Dr Tubiga to remain calm if he had the interest of the part= y at heart and wait until the next congress to contest and lead the party and stop the divisive attitude. The statement assured followers of the party that members from the Northern Region would continue to fight relentlessly for the interest of th= e party to ensure victory in 2012 and would guard against individuals who wan= t to derail the fortunes of the party. The statement appealed to northern executives to withdraw any matters in court to allow the party to organize its congress for the crucial 2012 elections.
