Ntim launches campaign for NPP national chairmanship

Kumasi, Aug 14, GNA- Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, first National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Saturday launched his campaign for the national chairmanship of the Party with a pledge to pursue policies and programmes that would ensure victory for the NPP in 2008 and beyond.

Addressing delegates from all the 10 regions of the country who attended the launch in Kumasi, Mr Ntim said he would focus on the strengthening of the Party structures at the grassroots and to empower members economically to enable them discharge their duties to the NPP effectively if he won the bid.

He pledged to make information technology available to all branches of the Party by ensuring the networking of the national headquarters and the regional secretariats to facilitate the dissemination and accessing of information about the Party.

Mr Ntim said when elected as the national chairman of the NPP, he would promote unity among the members, ensure team work and recognise the contribution of all party members.

He, however, acknowledged the fact that victory for the Party depended much on the ability to re-energise the grassroots level and promised to promote the welfare of NPP members to enable them to effectively canvas for votes for the Party.

Mr Ntim said the supremacy of the NPP would by making it operational through relentless negotiations and consultations with the relevant stakeholders.

He also pledged to work assiduously to ensure that the Party retained executive power and parliamentary majority in the 2008 elections.

Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey, Deputy Minister for the Interior, urged the leadership of the Party to be open and sociable to enable the rank and files approach them. He called on supporters and members of the NPP to work hard to counter the negative propaganda by some opposition parties.
