The chief of Nungua, Nii Odai Fio III, has asked chiefs and members of the Nungua Traditional Council to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) Presidential Candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo come December 7, 2012 elections.

That, he said, was due to the fact that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had neglected them ever since the party was voted into power in 2008. The Nungua chief made these pronouncements when Nana Addo called on him at his palace last Friday as part of his ‘Restore Hope Tour’ to the Krowor Constituency.

Nii Odai Fio III said the NDC government had turned a deaf ear to them despite persistent calls for help to solve the socio-economic challenges confronting the people, adding that during the Homowo season, the government did not participate in the festival and also contributed nothing to the success of the festivity.

He therefore urged his council members to vote for Nana Addo on the Election Day because his policies were good and would help eradicate poverty in the community.

He said, “Nana Addo always responds to the calls of the traditional council and I know that when he is voted into power, he will not turn his back on us”.

Nii Odai Fio said in as much as politics was about having good social intervention policies, one basic issue politicians should address was the provision of affordable food, explaining that without food, all the social policy interventions Akufo-Addo was bringing on board would not make sense to the people.

He urged Nana Addo to correct the past mistakes that made him to lose the 2008 elections and make sure those mistakes are not repeated.

Nana Addo promised the Nungua Traditional Council that he would fulfill all the promises he had made to Ghanaians if they voted for him to become president.

The NPP flag-bearer reiterated his promise to provide free SHS, create jobs and resuscitate the NHIS if voted into office.

Nana Addo and his campaign team were received by the parliamentary candidate for Krowor, Lawyer Nii Ayikoi Otoo and the constituency executives.

During his tour of the Krowor Constituency, Nana Addo made a stop at the Nungua Wulomo’s house where he was decorated with a garland, which symbolized that he had been accepted into the royal family.

After the decoration, the Wulomo invited Nana Addo and his entourage to a dining table where they ate kpoikpoi and palm nut soup.

Nana Addo thanked the Wulomo for his kind gesture and then proceeded to the main market where he interacted with the traders.

He then went to the traditional authority forecourt, where a mini rally was organized.

Nana Addo introduced Lawyer Ayikoi Otoo to the large crowd as the party’s parliamentary candidate and urged them to vote for him on Election Day. Nana Addo urged party supporters to fully participate in the on-going exhibition of the voters register.

He said they should not hesitate to file a complaint when there was a problem in the register.

That, Nana Addo said, was the safest way to ensure that they were not disenfranchised come December.
