The Brong-Ahafo regional minister, Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo has once again been elected as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Sunyani West Constituency for the parliamentary elections in 2012.

Mr. Nyamekye Marfo polled 371 votes to silence two other candidates, in the party’s primaries smoothly conducted at Nsoatre. Football administrator, Kofi Manu, alias Blue Boy, polled 49 votes while the Human Rights Activist, and Chief Executive Officer for Access To justice, Rev. Nana Adjei Ntow, who contested the regional minister in 2008, had only 3 votes. With this result, the stage is now set for Mr. Nyamekye Marfo to map out strategies to unseat the current MP for Sunyani West and former regional minister, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, who defeated Nyamekye Marfo in the 2008 parliamentary elections.

Elsewhere, the deputy Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing Hannah Bisiw won in Tano South. The seat which was contested by three candidates saw Hannah Bisiw winning with 304 votes.

Our reporter Ransford Antwi reports that the atmosphere was fairly calm and there were no interruptions in the voting process.

In the Jaman South Constituency, Major (rtd) Boakye Gyan was elected as the parliamentary candidate to represent the NDC for next year’s elections. He beat two other contestants.
