Obed Pushes For High Standard In Politics

Dr. Obed AsamoahDr. Obed Asamoah, Founder of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP, has pointed out that various techniques adopted by politicians to enable them succeed in the country must be modified.

According to him, the political system in Ghana seems to favour violent and iniquitous people and not the gentle and humble people since the country gained independence in 1957.

The system, Dr. Obed said, supports people who could be best described as ‘the hard hitting’ ones and not those who are balanced and objective.

Dr. Asamoah, in an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE, after the launch of William Ofori-Atta Centenary celebrations in Accra, stressed that over the years competent and level-headed people like Mr. William Ofori Atta failed to get approval from the people because he was too gentle and quiet.

Dr, Asamoah, who was a friend of William Ofori-Atta, stressed that those who come to power or succeed in government do the wrong things and assassinate the characters of others.

According to him, being a successful politician in the country means loving the language of violence, insults among others.

Dr. Asamoah reiterated that such politicians influence the youth to create confusion in the country, particularly during elections.

“So if we say people love the language of violence, we should understand that it is politicians who push and influence the people by suggesting that let’s get this man’s neck and throat or let the blood flow, and the boys act accordingly,” he said.

He therefore appealed to Ghanaians to emulate gentle people and vote for them.

Dr. Obed Asamoh on Tuesday joined hundreds of people who attended the launch of the centenary celebration of Mr. William Ofori Atta, a member of the ‘Big six’ in Accra.

Prof. Stephen Adei, chairman of William Ofori Atta Centenary celebrations, in a speech, stressed that the time has come for Ghanaians to change their attitude towards politics.

He entreated Ghanaians not to pay attention to violent people but rather focus on level-headed people like the founding fathers of the nation.
