Akyem Ayirebi (E/R), Nov. 4, GNA - The Ofoase/Ayirebi Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday launched its electioneering campaign for Election 2004 at Akim Ayirebi and introduced Mr David Oppon-Kusi the Party's Parliamentary Candidate, to the electorate.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the Party, Nana Kofi Adi-Ankama, told the Party's supporters that judging by the impressive record of the Government so far, there was no doubt that its mandate would be renewed. He said the mass cocoa spraying exercise resulting in increased production of the crop, increase of the producer price of the crop and construction of feeder roads in the rural areas were some of the positive achievement of the Government.

Nana Adi-Ankama called on the electorate to vote for the NPP in both the presidential and parliamentary elections. Mr Oppon-Kusi noted that education formed the foundation for development and he would, therefore, promote the sector when elected as Member of Parliament.

He urged the supporters to intensify the house-to-house campaign to enable the NPP to win the elections in December Mr Oppon-Kusi appealed to the people to embrace the National Insurance Scheme, which was aimed at ensuring quality health care for all Ghanaians.

The Constituency Secretary of NPP, Mr J. S. Mensah, advised the Party's activists to be abreast with Government policies and programmes so that they could educate the people on those issues to help counter the negative propaganda being peddled by opponents. He called on the supporters not to antagonize their political opponents but to convince them, especially the "floating voters" to join the Party to enhance its chances of winning the December elections massively.

The Eastern Regional Organizer of NPP, Ms Grace Attafuah said the Government had kept faith with women by establishing the Ministry for Women and Children's Affairs and urged women to reciprocate the gesture by voting for the NPP.
