Okai Koi South NPP re-elects Nana Akomeah

Accra, Aug. 9 GNA - Nana Akomeah, Minister of Information, was on Sunday re-elected by acclamation as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Okai Koi South Constituency at a delegate's congress in Accra.

All the 100 members of the Electoral College gave Nana Akomeah, who stood unopposed, the nod.

Nana Akomeah, who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area is running for the third term as a parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NPP.

In his acceptance speech, Nana Akomeah thanked the delegates for the trust reposed in him and promised to work harder to bring more development to the area.

He called on the Party members to intensify their campaign in the constituency to win massively in elections 2004.

The Minister also out-doored his campaign posters to the large Party supporters and sympathizers that gathered at Bubuashie in Accra. Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, commended the Executives and members of the Party for their untiring effort in making the constituency one of the "safe seats" in the Greater Accra Region.

The Minister further challenged the Executives to make sure that the Party got over 70 per cent of the votes in both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections on December 7, 2004.

Present at the function were Mr Kwadwo Agyei Darko, Minister of Local Government and rural Development; Mr Kwamena Bartels, Minister of Private Sector Development and Mr Kan Dapaah, Minister of Communication and Technology.

The rest were Mr Dan Botwe, General Secretary of the NPP; Mr Lord Commey, National Organiser of the NPP and Ms Vida Dugbartey, Greater Accra Regional Women's Organiser of the Party.
