Accra,(Greater Accra) Nov. 7 Nii Okaija Adamafio, Minister of Interior, today called for a shared responsibility between parents and teachers in the overall development of the child. He, however, asked parents to take up the responsibility of disciplining their children instead of depending solely on teachers. Nii Okaija Adamafio, who is also the Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo, was speaking at the commissioning of the rehabilitated Sempe Government Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in Accra. The project, which took two years to complete at a cost of 350 million cedis, was jointly commissioned by the minister, the AMA chief executive, Mr Nat Nuno Amarteifio, and the Ga Manye, Naa Deidei Omardru. The ceremony forms part of the centenary celebration of the City of Accra. Mr Amarteifio said the AMA was placing emphasis on education. Therefore, he said a number of schools including the Ayalolo, Richard Akwei Memorial and Independence Primary and Junior Secondary Schools will be rehabilitated to serve the increasing number of school children in the metropolis.
