Aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Jaman South constituency in the Brong Ahafo region has defended president Mahama's 'thank you' tour of the regions, describing it as normal, traditional and perfect.

He said " he is not an ordinary person, he is the president of Ghana and deserves to do more than he is doing. We will not accept unnecessary criticism from our opponents."

He bemoaned the criticisms of the opposition elements who have indicted that the president is abusing incumbency with his regional tour, too much politics is going on and I advice the president and his men to keep their focus and not overreact to feeble criticisms.

The NDC parliamentary candidate for Jaman South said " when one is in a position as high as the president, the worst thing to happen to you is that people don't talk about you. People should talk freely but the president and his men should not react.

President John Dramani Mahama is on a regional tour of the country to thank and express appreciation to the chiefs and people of individual regions for the outpouring of love, respect and support during the final funeral rites and burial of late president Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

Touching on the chances of the NDC in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in December this year, Osahene Boakye Djan emphasized that the ruling party is the only political organization that is capable of 'self regeneration.

He contended that president Mahama represents a generation in the party and has become "centre of gravity" to attract the old and new in the party to himself to guarantee a comprehensive victory in 2012.

He stated that the death of president Mills has united the party and warned the leadership of the party not to squander the advantages and opportunities that has come about as a result of the late great leader of Ghana professor John Evans Atta Mills. The NDC must win the elections and continue with the good works.

On whether there was the need for former president Rawlings to join the campaign, Osahene Boakye Djan noted that the founder of the party is still with the NDC and will forever be with the party. "I am disappointed he is not in the team touring the regions for the 'thank you' tour but believe he will jump on to it soon," He said.
