Kumasi, Feb 27, GNA - Mr Joe Osei-Owusu, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver, Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), has declared his intentions to contest the Amansie East parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This follows agitations by the electorates that he is the one who could champion the needs of the constituents in parliament as the present Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kofi Adusei Poku, has failed to deliver.
Mr Osei-Owusu told newsmen in Kumasi that he would file his nomination papers for the NPP primaries when it is opened in March. The DVLA chief, a lawyer and former Amansie East Constituency Chairman of the NPP, said as an active and vibrant leader endowed with skills to propagate the ideals of the party, he would bring more development to the people when elected as an MP. He said his aim would be to improve on health, education and building individual capacities. Mr Osei-Owusu called on party executives and supporters to bury their differences unite and vote massively to return the NPP to power in December.
He also called on those who have attained 18 years and above in the constituency to register when the voters' register is opened in May.
