The Volta Region is widely known as the world bank of the ruling National Democratic Congress since inception of 1992 constitutional democracy.
This has been so till today.
However, there are those who believe that voting patterns in the Volta region is about to change in this year’s election due to what they say is the poor performance of the NDC government in the region, coupling with myriad of various unfulfilled promises.
But, the Volta Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Krachi West Helen Adjoa Ntoso has disagreed with the assertion saying massive infrastructure development in the region under John Dramani Mahama led administration will deliver victory for the NDC in the Volta region come Nov 7.
“We have done enough infrastructure works in the Volta region, the people of Volta region will renew the mandate of John Dramani Mahama and his government” the Volta regional Minister posited.
Recent calls by the Anlodukor on President Mahama to ensure that jobs are available for the teeming youths of the area to do, has caused some to say the NDC is losing grounds in the Volta region which is a possible sign of the region fast becoming a “micro finance institute” instead of the “world bank” as the region is noted for.
In February this year, a group of Ketu-South youth says President Mahama is a failure and does not deserve a second chance. The group maintains that Mahama has lost the support of the youth, and they will work to inform their brothers and sisters to vote against Mahama and the NDC in 2016.
A youth member of the group says “we find it our mission to ensure Mahama is not re-elected the president, at least not by votes from Ketu-South.” The NDC is in for a rude awaking if it thinks Ketu-South is a done deal. In 2016, we will not be the usual used and dumped “world Bank,” we will not fall again for the NDC’s talk and no action politics,
Speaking to Bright Kwesi Asempa on Ghana Dadwen after the Accounting to the People Tour of the Volta Region, Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso the Volta Regional Minister was of firm belief that the region will not fail the NDC.
“Volta region will vote massively for the NDC, President Mahama has shown to the people of Volta region that he thinks about them. Roads that were hitherto not in good shape, are now first class roads, schools are being removed under trees and being given modern school buildings, we now have a university to boast of against all criticism, etc”
The Volta regional asked critics of the NDC administration to look at the brighter side of what they are doing rather than always saying the President is doing nothing.
