Bolgatanga (UE), Nov 1, GNA- The Presiding Member (PM) of the Bongo District Assembly in the Upper East Region, Mr. Emmanuel Nsor-Atindana, has declared his intention to contest the Regional Secretary slot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the party's congress in December. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga, Mr. Nsor-Atindana the 39 years old Assemblyman for Atiabisi/Tarongo in the Zorko electoral area, said he had vast experience that made him eligible to run the affairs of the party at the regional level.
According to the aspirant, he joined the Party in 1992 and soon became the local secretary of the party at Mim in Brong Ahafo Region and later became Assistant Constituency Secretary from 1998 to 2002. He represented Ahafo Youth Wing of the Party also in Brong Ahafo Region at the Party's national level.
He became the party's delegate in 1995 and 1999 in Legon and Sunyani respectively, where the party elected its presidential candidates and noted that in 2000 he became a trainer of trainees which involved the training of party members on campaign strategies.
Mr. Nsor-Atindana said he also became the assembly man in Asunafo in Brong Ahafo Region in 2002-2006 and eventual decided to return to Upper East Region, his hometown and to run for the offices of assemblymember and the Presiding Member respectively of the Bongo District Assembly. Mr. Nsor-Atindana said he was not into politics to amass wealth but to sacrifice and to mitigate the plight of the ordinary people. He said when given the nod he would work hard to ensure that the party wins more seats in the 13 constituency region so as to capture power in the 2012 election.
He said he would listen to every body of the party especially party members at the grassroots levels including the constituency executives and polling agents of the party.
According to PM, his administration would continue to engage constituencies in a consistent dialogue to increase membership and also ensure that constituencies were well informed on party policies and programmes.
He indicated he would work tireless to settle the differences within the party in the Region to pave the way for the growth of the party and appealed to all party members to see to the development and the winning of the party as paramount.
He lamented that one of the major reasons that led to party defeat in the last elections was due to in house fighting and asked members to desist from that practices. 01 Nov. 09
