PNC Congratulates The NDC ON A SUCCESSFUL CONGRESS

The PNC leadership congratulates the delegates, members and leadership of the National Democratic Congress on their just-ended special delegates’ congress held in Sunyani to elect the party’s flag bearer for the 2012 elections.

It is gratifying to note that the ruling party conducted an incident-free and successful congress to deepen internal democracy in their party, a trait well exemplified by the People’s National Convention in all its congresses. The PNC shares in this success given its significance and importance in helping entrench democratic governance in the country.

It is in this same vein that we urge the ruling NDC government to demonstrate a much deeper resolve in playing the role required of it to strengthen state institutions ahead of the 2012 general elections, which represents another important milestone in our forward-march as a country. A much greater responsibility is thus entrusted on them as the ruling party in this regard.

We applaud the elected flag bearer, Professor Evans Attah Mills, and graciously admonish the NDC to be battle-ready to face an invigorated and united PNC ready to capture power in 2012 as the cry of the average Ghanaian is for a renewed sense of hope and direction. This, a 2013-led PNC government is committed and ready to provide in order to restore confidence and hope for the average Ghanaian to face their daily struggles and aspirations for improved living conditions.

Further, we extend a warm hand of congratulations to Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings for her courage, boldness coupled with the spirited campaigns which injected life into the NDC before, during and after the Sunyani Congress.

We pray that the NDC, particularly the two contenders would close their ranks now that delegates have decided, to rally and hold together for the greater interest of the party and Ghana as whole.

Once again the PNC congratulates the NDC, the flag bearer elect for 2012, Prof. John Evans Attah Mills and wishes the party the best of luck in the years ahead.

General Secretary, PNC
