PPP forms progressive coalition

The leadership of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) is embarking on a landmark coalition dubbed ‘Progressive Coalition’ aimed at ensuring massive victory for the party, come Election 2012.

“We encourage like-minded people willing to build an inclusive society with competent, incorruptible leadership to create jobs, jobs, jobs to join this coalition now,” the party leadership said in statement copied to Today yesterday.

And in the spirit of this, the party has welcomed the presidential aspirant of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP,) Madam Akua Donkor, to the PPP campaign.

The PPP through this coalition is asking all presidential candidates and political parties who could not field a presidential candidate to join its presidential campaign.

It would be recalled that the Electoral Commission (EC) disqualified the presidential candidates of the Independent People’s Party (IPP), National Democratic Party (NDP), New Vision Party (NVP), United Renaissance Party (URP,) and the Yes People’s Party (YPP) for mistakes and delays in the submission of nomination forms and this, the PPP believes, opens a gapping door for the disqualified parties in the PPP.

Independent parliamentary candidates are also being implored through this landmark Progressive Coalition to support the PPP presidential campaign.

Political parties and presidential candidates who strongly believe the election will go to a second round are also being entreated to join the coalition now “to pull our resources together to ensure victory.” Parliamentary candidates and party executives who are disappointed in their parties’ showing so far in the campaign have also been particularly targeted to support the Nduom led campaign.

The party believes that the time is apt for every Ghanaian who does not want to vote for the parties who have disappointed them in the 4th Republic to support the PPP campaign.

“We encourage all who agree that Ghana deserves an alternative to the NDC and the NPP to join the PROGRESSIVE COALITION for an inclusive, prosperous and peaceful Ghana,” the Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom led coalition advocated.
