The Central Region Police Command has denied the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) permission to embark on a procession against perceived corruption in the country.

According to the police, there will not be enough officers to offer security for the scheduled demonstration in the region.

PPP’s demonstration dubbed “Ayefe Notse” became a topic of controversy this year when the Greater Accra Region police refused the party permission to carry out its procession due to the election petition.

It is clear the police may not have enough men to offer security in Cape Coast as a result of the beefing up of security for the Christmas holidays. “But we are not discouraged. We shall fix a new date [to be] announced soon,” a status update on the party’s Facebook page noted.

“Corruption must fall,” added the party on Monday, December 23, 2013. After first embarking on the Ayefe Notse demonstration on Thursday, October 3, 2013, the PPP organised a successful one in the Ashanti Region capital of Kumasi and organizers resolved to repeat similar processions in the regional capitals across the country.
