PPP to capture Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency

Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, William Dowokpor has admonished the Ghanaian electorate against limiting their choices at the 2012 elections to the NDC and NPP.

“you should reject the cheap propaganda that tells you the only choice you have in the 2012 elections, is between the two old parties that have failed to deliver the change Ghana needs. If they have been passing the baton of government to each other for the past 20 years, they have been making the same old promises for the past 20 years; and have been breaking the same old promises for the past 20 years, it will be really out of order for you accept, they are the only choice you have” he charged.

William Dowokpor made the charge on Sunday at the inauguration of a 30 member “American House” polling station campaign team in the East Legon electoral area of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

"This is the defining year to elect a true representative for our constituency. We need the referendum Member of Parliament who involves us in the decisions and contributions he makes in parliament. We need an MP who puts his constituents above his individual and party considerations. We need to get it right this year or the next four years will continue to be frustrating for all of us. He said.

Insisting that he was the best person to represent the constituency as MP, William Dowokpor said, “I know and I have what it takes to do this job to your expectation. It requires speaking for you, agitating for reliability in utility and public services for you. It involves advocating real job creating policies and facilitating jobs for the youth. It requires working with the security agencies to guarantee security to life and property. It is no longer about big or small party, old or new party, it is about who can represent you properly.

He stressed the need to insulate the Ghanaian electorate from the myth that the only choice available to them is between NDC and NPP. This calls for each and every PPP member to get involved in party work at the polling station level. “It is this grassroots approach that will break the myth and guarantee the victory that has eluded alternative parties for many years” he said.

He believes the PPP will win the 2012 elections because Ghanaians are now awake to the incontrovertible evidence that the NDC and NPP are parties in collusion. Instead of offering Ghanaians good governance by implementing policies that will improve the lot of Ghanaians, they distract public attention by arguing about superficial differences, to obscure the fact that their values and style of governance are the same.

“It is agreed that Ghana needs real change in political leadership to attain the transformational development it deserves. It is also known and agreed that the needed change will never come in this multi-party representative dispensation, if Ghanaians continue to think the only choice they have is between the NDC and NPP; the two parties that have ruled the country for two decades, making and breaking the same old empty promises at every election” he cautioned.

“This December, you will have two choices. One, to vote for the NDC and NPP candidates, in which case you will throw your vote away again to settle for another four years of frustration or two, vote for the PPP candidates to guarantee the real change you can feel in your lives” he concluded.
