Parliament Reconvenes After Easter Recess

Parliament reconvenes on Tuesday after the Easter Recess. It is the second meeting of the fourth session of the fifth parliament of the fourth Republic.

The House has been on recess during which the Members of Parliament (MPs) spent the Easter and monitored the just ended Biometric Voter's Registration Exercise.

Eighteen new bills are expected to be presented to the House. They include the Right to Information Bill; Enforcement of Foreign Judgement Bill, 2012; the Public Officers (Code of Conduct) Bill, 2012; the Minerals Development Fund; the National Sports Bill, 2012; National Youth Bill, 2012; the National Youth Employment Bill, 2012; the Rent Bill,2012; the Public Holiday (Amendment) Bill, 2012 and the Survey Council Bill, 2012.

Bills which are already at the second reading stage include the Ghana AIDS Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2010; the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2011; the Interstate Succession Bill, 2009 and the Public Health Bill, 2011.

The meeting will be the last but one of this Parliament since the House is expected to be dissolved after the December general election.**
