Former Member of Parliament (MP) Zebila Constituency, Cletus Avoka has shot down claims that he has been in parliament for five terms and need to pave way for fresh hands arguing that being in parliament is not job for the boys.

The former Minister of Interior under the erstwhile John Evans Atta Mills administration, stated that it not a vocation either damning all those who are criticizing him in his bid to seek a sixth term.

“I stand the chance of improving on the quality of debates when I go back. Don’t forget that parliament is not a place for vocation or a job for the boys. People say you have gone for one term or two terms let somebody go, go and do what”, he quizzed on Bolgatanga-based Yem Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to him, he is still physically and mentally strong to give off his best for the development of the Zebilla Constituency as well as Ghana as a whole wondering why no one is complaining about his efficiency as an MP but only the length of time he has stayed in parliament.

“I am still strong enough, mentally alert and I have the capacity to lead the development of the Zebila Constituency. You know politics is network and nothing else. It is not enough to wear a big smock and go and sit at the back as a back bencher, you need to have influence. Now as a former Majority leader of the NDC if I go back to parliament today, I will be in the front bench of the NDC and Zebila will not be denied its share of the national cake”, he stressed.
