Kumasi, Oct, 23. GNA - Mr. Isaac Osei, parliamentary candidate for the Subin constituency in Kumasi, has renovated the palace of the Sarkin Zongo (the Zongo Chief). He has also given scholarships from a scheme he personally instituted to children of five Zongo card-bearing NPP members to attend senior high school.

At a ceremony in Kumasi on Wednesday to hand over the palace to the Sarkin Zongo chief, Mr. Osei said the gesture was to give the Sarkin a befitting palace because of his position as a paramount chief serving on the Asanteman Traditional Council.

He called on zongo communities to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP presidential candidate, and he as parliamentarian for the constituency to enable them respond to their other social, economic and developmental needs.

Mr. Osei, who cut the tape to signify the opening of the palace, spoke about the non-retaliatory and peaceful stance of the NPP and urged his supporters not to attack supporters of other opponents. "When other supporters attack our supporters we shall not visit vendetta on them, because we are for peace and not for war", he said. He appealed to the youth not to tear posters and desist from acts likely to cause violence to mar the December poll. Sheik Umara, Ashanti Regional Imam, advised the Zongo youth not to be influenced to cause mayhem in the period preceding the December 7 election. He also called on Muslims to pray for the nation and to exercise their franchise on voting day and thanked Mr Osei for the gesture.
