Madam Mercy Quarshie, Assemblywoman for the Presbyterian Electoral Area in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis, says the infiltration of party colours into the district level elections is gradually marring the good concept of local governance.
Mrs. Quarshie told the GNA in an interview that stakeholders in the electoral process must therefore rise to the realities on ground on revise the concept.
She appealed to women to be involved in the process and participate in the election, adding that assembly work demanded that one was selfless, dedicated and committed and women possess those attributes.
Mrs. Quarshie, who is seeking a second term, mentioned some of her achievement as provision street lights, securing employment for people, distribution of stationeries to some 77 school children, provision of sanitation wares, workshop for women groups and visiting homes of the needy.
