Gomoa Potsin (C/R), Aug. 26, GNA - The people of Potsin, a town in the newly created Gomoa East District, who kicked against the citing of a district capital at Afransi, another town in the area, has rescinded their decision to vote against the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The decision followed series of promises made to them by Nana Akufo-Addo and his campaign team last Monday, which included creating a another new district with Potsin as the capital. These came to light when the NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and his campaign team visited the town as part of a week-long tour of the Central Region to canvass for votes.

Prior to changing their stance, the people refused to participate in the NPP's mini rally in the town even with the intervention of the Regional Campaign Manager, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who made the promise that he would compensate them with the construction of a modern toilet facility.

Mr Agyapong while talking to them issued a cheque of one thousand Ghana cedi as part payment to the facility but that did not convinced them.

Later, Nana Akufo-Addo came in and promised to develop the town into a vibrant commercial centre, tarred their streets and built a Senior High School for them but that also failed. It was, therefore, Nana Akufo-Addo's promise that a new district would be created with Potsin as the capital that brought about wild jubilations and cheers from the people which caused the "magic". Nana Akufo-Addo, as result, told them to vote massively for him and the NPP in order to fulfil that promise.

According to Nana Twaako VIII, Chief of the town, his people resolved never to have anything to do with the NPP because they believed government had a hand in overturning the agreement by the traditional authorities and the local government authority to initially cite the capital at Potsin.

The campaign team also visited Afransie where Nana Akufo-Addo assured them that it was his vision to accelerate the development of the nation and called for massive votes for the NPP.

Other places in the region that Nana Akufo-Addo visited and addressed party faithful and supporters at rallies were Bawjiase, Awutu Beraku, Nyanyano Kakraba and Winneba.
