Nadowli,(U/W), April 21, GNA- Mr Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister has announced that, Chinese construction companies in the country would now be considered for road construction jobs in the region, in view of the low capacity and poor performance of local contractors in road construction.

He has therefore, extended invitation to Chinese companies to bid for feeder and other road projects in the region.

The Minister was reacting to persistent questions on the performance of local Ghanaian contractors in road construction, as most of the questioners were not happy about the poor execution of road projects in their areas.

This was at the Nadowli district people's assembly held at Nadowli on Wednesday.

Mr Dery said a number of road contracts awarded by the government in the region since it came to power were still lagging far behind while some of the contractors had abandoned the contracts. Chinese building and dam construction companies in the region are the toast of the people because of their professional execution of their contracts.

Mrs. Pailine Ninkpeng, regretted the assembly's dwindling earnings from its internally generated revenue and appealed to citizens of the district to honour their tax obligations to the assembly to mobilize sufficient revenue to carry out its numerous projects.
