Enyan Abaasa (C/R), Sept 9, GNA - The Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze, on Wednesday said that the days when politicians enticed people with items such "kako", salt and money to win their votes should be a thing of the past.

He said people should rather vote for individuals and the parties that can perform and address their needs. Mr Edumadze was addressing the chiefs and people of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area at a durbar to climax a-week-long Akwambo festival of the area.

He said even though times are hard, the NPP government has undertaken a number of projects including the construction of roads, schools blocks and clinics in the districts to improve the lot of the people.

The minister therefore, asked them to assess the achievements so far chalked by the NPP government, since it took over power three and a half years ago and give it the mandate to continue its good work. Mr Edumadze expressed concern about indiscipline among the youth and urged them to reform and give respect to their elders and parents. Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X, Omanhene of the traditional area in his welcoming address, commended the government for rehabilitating roads in the district, which he said has enhanced free flow of foodstuffs to the urban towns.

Osagyefo Akonu regretted that although Nananom remains custodians and mobilise the people for the implementation of development projects, when it came to apportion of resources they are left out. He suggested that, a fraction of the district assemblies' common fund be given to the traditional councils.

On this year's general elections, Osagyefo Akonu appealed to his people to vote for the party, which would champion the course of the people.
