Some concerned citizens of Tarkwa Nsueam have expressed disappointment over the usage of one vehicle in the distributing of materials as well as for monitoring activities in the ongoing biometric voter registration exercise by the Municipal Electoral Officer.

They have therefore called on philanthropist to support the office of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality with an extra vehicle to enable them to meet the estimated target for the registration exercise.

The concerned citizens raised the issue in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday during a tour of some polling centers.

They said the situation was likely to slow down the registration process as the EC may not be able to dispatch technicians to polling centers where the registration equipment had developed technical problems.

Mr. Kwaku Owusu Addo, Municipal electoral officer in charge of Tarkwa Nsueam who confirmed the issue raised by the concerned citizens, said amidst this challenge his outfit was doing all it could to ensure that they registered the estimated 90,000 people by the end of the exercise.

He said because this form of registration was being introduced in Ghana for the first time, those who went for training were still having minor problems with the registration process, adding that with time they will be conversant with the machines and the registration process will speed up.

The Municipal electoral officer assured all that they will cover the entire constituency before the process ends.

Mr. Owusu Addo appealed to the electorate to wait patiently till the registration officer’s got to polling centers in their neighbourhood to enable them to have their turn .**
