Political Violence: Murder At Ayawaso East

Four shoeshine boys have been arrested and sent to the Kotobabi Police Station for allegedly stabbing an NDC activist to death.
The four believed to be NPP supporters were involved in a heated political argument with the victim, a 32 year old in Nima a suburb of Accra.
According to an eyewitness the argument started when the shoeshine boys questioned why the deceased, Seth Fiample had draped the walls of his residence with NDC posters.
In the ensuing argument, one of the shoeshine boys allegedly stabbed the NDC activists in the left chest with a cobblers needle.
A sister of the deceased, Awushi Fiample who spoke to Joy News said the family is currently going through a lot of pain and the family is calling on the police to speed up investigate into the circumstances that led to the death of their relative.
Nima falls under the Ayawaso East constituency and it is one of the keenly contested seats in the Greater Accra Region.
The NDC?s Dr Mustafa Ahmed who is seeking for re-election is currently holds the seat.
The incident came after former President Rawlings appeal to NDC supporters to exercise restraint and conduct their election campaigns in a peaceful manner.
He expressed the need for them to avoid confrontation with their opponent in order to ensure the success of the December polls.
The former President was addressing separate NDC rallies at Kwahu, Tafo and Nkawkaw as part of his three-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region.
He noted that for the sake of peace of the country, supporters of the party should control their tempers over any acts of provocation from political opponents.
Flt Lt Rawlings intimated that before he left office, the average Ghanaian could educate his child from basic school to the university level, adding that hospitals were constructed in all the regional capitals during his administration.
He said a number of basic schools were also constructed in some parts of the country. Jerry Rawlings however expressed grave concern about the current level of the economy, saying parents cannot afford the high school fees, while an average Ghanaian finds it extremely difficult to pay electricity and health bills. He, therefore, urged the people to vote massively for Prof John Evans Atta Mills and all the NDC Parliamentary candidates to enable them continue from where the party left off.
The former President also accused the NPP government of not utilizing a total of 42 trillion cedis loan it contracted within their four years rule.
The Eastern Regional chairman of the party, Mr Fred Ohene Kena, said the NPP had failed to fulfill its electioneering campaign promises and should therefore be voted out of office in December elections.
