Old Tafo (E/R), Sept. 27, GNA - Pastor Nathaniel Boateng, Area Pastor of the Church of Christ, Old Tafo, in the East Akyem Municipality, has asked politicians not to wait till they are in office before contributing to the wellbeing of others.
He gave the advice after Mr Joseph Boakye-Danquah, the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa North, funded the extension of electricity from the Old Tafo Town to the Church’s premises at the cost of about GHC5,000.
At a formal ceremony to hand over the project, Pastor Boateng urged other political figures to follow the example of Mr Boakye-Danquah and raise the standard of living of their people through varied ways.
He said since Mr Boakye-Danquah was elected as the Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP in April, he had contributed in diverse ways to the development of Old Tafo Town and its surrounding communities, including the churches.
Pastor Boateng said sending electricity to the church’s premises remained a big problem for the church because of lack of cost and commended Mr Boakye-Danquah for his quick response to their request for assistance.
Mr Boakye-Danquah, a former Deputy Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs in the Kufuor Administration, said when he was the MP between 2004 and 2008, he contributed immensely to the development of the area and continued with his support even after he lost that position.
Mr Boakye-Danquah mentioned some of the communities he had supported since April as Nobi, Kukurantumi, Aboabo, Sokodejuaso, Oboase, and others.
He predicted that he would retain the seat for the NPP in the 2012 polls and urged supporters of the party to turn up in their numbers to register when the voter register is opened.
