Politicians urged to develop policies on youth development

Politicians have been urged to develop policies on youth development to involve them in decision making rather than only using them in violence during elections.

Ms Christabel Afrane, the Programmes Manager of the Youth Challenge International, a non-governmental organization, was speaking to the GNA at a film show organized by the organization at the Koforidua Zongo on Saturday.

She said politicians only remembered the youth when it is getting to elections since they are vibrant and energetic.

Ms Afrane therefore appealed to the youth to ignore any politician who would not bring on board good policies aimed at bettering their living conditions but would only try to “use them to do dirty jobs for him or her.”

She said her organization was showing the documentary of the Sierra Leonean war and the Rwanda genocide to the people to create awareness and educate them on what violence could do to one’s country.

Ms Afrane said it was important for the youth to protect the peace in the country since they are the future leaders and would have no future when there is no peace in the country.

She called for unity among all political parties since peace building would not be realized without unity.
