Govt appointees urged to co-operate with party members

Tema, May 29, GNA - Dr. Hannah Louisa Bisiw, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, has urged Government Appointees to co-operate with members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to retain power for a long time. She made this call at an outreach programme dubbed, "Projecting NDC Ideology," for the Tema West Constituency. Dr. Bisiw stated that, the NDC stands for the Social Democratic ideology to advocate change, and implement new ideas through democratic principles for the welfare and advancement of society. The Deputy Minister reiterated that government would continue to encourage and support the development of the private sector. She was of the view that the high level of participation of local investors served as a mark of confidence in the local economy. Dr. Bisiw stressed that the government would not fail to apply fair and equitable social distribution mechanisms that would ensure the welfare of all citizens, including the weak and the vulnerable in society. She suggested that education in the party should be intensified and great attention be paid to enhance the collective leadership of the party's Executive Committee.

Mr. James Kofi Fornu, National Deputy Youth Organizer of the NDC, explained that the party had no foot soldiers, but grass root supporters, known as cadres. He advised the so-called foot soldiers to associate themselves with cadres of the party, warning them to present their grievances through the right channels, but not to take the law into their own hands. Mr. Ben Djakumah, the NDC Constituency Chairman for Tema West, said the main objective of the programme was to educate party members, especially the youth, on the government's plans for them. The programme was also to disabuse the minds of the members that the NDC had failed in fulfilling its campaign promises, he explained. He advised some members who called themselves foot soldiers to desist from taking the law into their own hands by attacking government officials and vandalizing them.
