Politics is a drain on the pocket and takes a lot of courage for one to step into it, according to a parliamentary aspirant Philip Addison.

Addison, who was the lead counsel for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the election petition case, is eyeing the Korle Klottey parliamentary seat in the Greater Accra region.

Speaking to Morning Starr, Addison admitted he has already spent a lot although nominations are yet to open before he can even go into actual campaigning.

“It’s expensive,” he confessed to host Kafui Dey. “I can’t calculate how much I have spent.”

However, the lawyer said he sees politics as “an opportunity” to affect the lives of the people although “it was a hard decision to take.”

According to him, he has done thorough consultations and believes he is in a good position to snatch the seat for the main opposition NPP.

“I’ll be a just, upright politician who will listen to my people and articulate whatever their concerns are where I find myself,” Addison stated.

Having shot to fame after the landmark 2012 election petition, Addison stated he will use it as a “marketing strategy” and sees it “as a huge advantage to step forward”.

“It’s a fine opportunity to take advantage of,” he added.
