Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba, has underscored the need for peace and unity in the country.

The minister thus patched up her differences with former President John Dramani Mahama who happens to be her cousin in order to serve as an example to others.

“Politics should not divide families. We are family first before politics but it should not also stop us from pursuing different political ideologies,” she stated.

The vociferous minister made this statement during the 41st conference of youth of Gonjaland last week.

The minister’s gesture saw the two of them laughing heartily after she called on all Ghanaians to emulate her by reaching out to offended people.

Madam Djaba implored Ghanaians to forgive one another so as to bring to bear the essence of the death and resurrection of Christ.

She also called for reconciliation amongst Gonja youth to bring development to the deprived area.

The conference, which was to foster peace and unity amongst youth in Gonjaland, was attended by high-powered delegations from both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
