Madam Yakubu who was defeated in the parliamentary elections to the NDC?s Mahama Ayariga has alleged that the Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama campaigned against her and that he supported the independent candidate.
It is believed that relations between Hawa and the Vice President have not being the best and that there was some rivalry over the party?s presidential slot in 2008.
In an interview with Joy News the NPP?s General Secretary Dan Botwe said that there was no such rivalry between the two adding that the party would not allow its future to be ruined by any power struggle.
?We are not going to allow ourselves to be stampede by these statements, we have won an election and have an agenda to pursue positive change chapter ?2? by implementing policies and programmes that would improve the lives of Ghanaians?, he said.
He indicated that the Party had not yet opened nominations and therefore there is no rivalry, adding ?How can anyone be talking about 2008 when nominations would be opened in January 7, 2005, we are in the midst of fighting for election 2004?.
