Prampram, Nov 09, GNA - Flt-Lt Nii Tackie (Rtd), the Acting Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, on Tuesday called on the party activists to close their ranks to prevent infiltration.

He called for unity among members because "there is nothing like Obed or Rawlings faction" within the party and that there is only one NDC. "You should exert your energies working harder to win more people into the party to win power in the next presidential and parliamentary elections.''

Flt-Lt Tackie said this at a delegates' conference of the Ningo-Prampram Constituency of the NDC during which new executives were elected for a four-year term.

Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, the MP for the constituency, underscored the importance of unity and commitment in the party to ensure the success of the party in the next elections.

He urged the NPP government to withdraw the Representation of the People's Amendment Bill, adding that most Ghanaians have demonstrated their unpreparedness to use the nation's scare resources to empower people in the Diaspora to vote.

Mr Daniel Tetteh Wayo Nartey, who retained his post as the chairman, thanked the delegates for retaining him and appealed to the members to work hard to ensure victory in the 2008 elections. The elected executives were Mr Edward Lee Darporh, the Secretary, Mr Isaac Vanguard, the Organiser and Mr Habibu Mohammed, the Youth Organiser.

The rest are Mdam Rose Donkor, the Women's Organiser, Mr Joshua Pornortey, the Treasurer and Mr S. A. Rhack Nartey, the Propaganda Secretary.
