Kumasi, Jan. 8, GNA- President Professor John Evans Atta Mills has been urged to remain focused and pursue policies and programmes that would meet the expectations of Ghanaians. Mr Thomas Owusu-Ansah, Kronom-Abuohia Ward Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urged the President to fulfil the promises he made during the electioneering campaign.

Mr Owusu-Ansah who was the former Kronum-Breman Assembly Member, was speaking at a mini-rally organised by the NDC at Kronum-Abuohia, a suburb of Kumasi on Wednesday in support of the swearing-in ceremony of Professor John Evans Atta Mills as the third President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. The rally was not only to celebrate the NDC's victory, but also to forge unity among the supporters.

Mr Owusu-Ansah noted that, the rank and file of the party would give persistent reminders to the President to enable him fulfil his promises and also keep him on track. He reminded NDC supporters to desist from insults, insinuations, victimization and acts that would undermine good governance, rule of law, peace and stability of the country.

Mr Yaw Owusu-Asare, a patron of the party cautioned the party supporters against complacency, arrogance and other negative acts and urged them to give their unflinching support to the President. "Your actions and attitudes are crucial to sustain the peace, stability and unity of the country", he said. Mr. Owusu-Asare advised opposition parties to give their maximum support to the incoming government to promote uninterrupted socio-economic development of the country.

Opanin John Okrah, a-94-year-old NDC fanatic, who was among the enthusiastic supporters advised Professor Mills and the Party leadership to unite Ghanaians.
