The completion of the confirmation exercise had now put government machinery in place to begin work at the grassroots level to provide the basic developmental needs to enhance the living conditions of the people. Briefing the press at Nadowli, Mr Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional Minister attributed the success of the Upper West story to the cooperation of all stakeholders including chiefs, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress at the regional and district levels, members of the opposition parties and the media. "Any where we went and appeal for support, the people understood us because development of the region had taken the centre stage of our discussion. That let to the burial of all differences among the people and yielded positive results," Mr Khalid said. He called on the people in the region to take advantage of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority and all other government interventions to improve the socio-economic growth. Mr Kansambata said he would form a "district think tank group" to oversee the development needs of the people. He appealed to experts and professionals from the district to avail themselves to the process to fast track the development of the district. 30 April 09
