Amalgamated Youth of the Upper East Region root for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as NPP Presidential Candidate for 2016 election
Bolgatanga, Jan 21(Akapule) GNA- A Youth group calling itself Amalgamated Youth of the Upper East Region have reiterated the need for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the former Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to re-stand as the Presidential Candidate for the party in the 2016 election. The Youth comprising Holland Base, Atlantic Base, Zongo Youth, Tescon, Young Patriots of Upper East and the entire youth of the Upper East Region who made the call at a Press Conference held in Bolgatanga on Thursday called on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to come back to Ghana to start the campaign.
In a statement read by a Spokesperson of the group, Mr Musa Alhassan at press conference in Bolgatanga on Monday described Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the best candidate who could give the party direction and the people of Ghana hope and impressed him to state boldly declare his intention to contest for the 2016 presidential race as the NPP Presidential candidate.
“We want to assure him one thing: for 2016, we will use all legitimate means to ensure that this time his victory shall be much bigger and will not be stolen from him. “, the group stated.
According to the youth group there were agitations from the grassroots and ordinary non-partisan Ghanaians including market women, students, teachers, farmers, the elderly in the region who have expressed their intention to vote for Nana should he re-stand to contest for the 2016 elections on the ticket of the NPP.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is common on the streets of Bolga, Navrongo, Bawku, Pusiga, Sadima and everywhere in this region to hear that ‘’Nana saang ka waana tikan voti’’ in Frafra and in Hausa ‘’Nn Nana bayzuba bamu vote kuma’’. These simply mean, if Nana does not come again we won’t vote. This is because people have lost confidence in our democracy and its ability to deliver. The only person, the people say, can make them believe in our democracy again is Akufo-Addo.”, they noted.
The Youth group reminded all Ghanaians not to forget about the moral victory Nana and the NPP won after the Supreme Court verdict and noted that his conceded speech confirmed that he was statesman who saved the country from the brink of war and all Ghanaian appreciated that including the international Community .
“Nana is a man of peace, a true patriot, who only wanted what was good for Ghana and the people has now become clear to every Ghanaian. No amount of dirty, false propaganda can change that now. “
The youth appealed to the people in the region to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP party to salvage Ghanaians from the suffering they were going through.
It would be recalled that a similar Youth Group in the Northern Region made another call on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to re-stand as the Presidential Candidate of the NPP Party for the 2016 elections.
