The Chairman of the Council of State has conveyed to President Mahama, the interest of some of the council members in continuing to serve in the new administration.
Professor Kofi Awoonor told President Mahama recently that some of the council members are relishing keeping their jobs.
The council’s term of office ends on the eve of the swearing in of President Mahama as the new President for the next four years.
The President would have to constitute a new Council of State to advise him on making appointments and taking critical national decisions.
Prof. Awoonor who led the Council to present their end of term report to the President recently told President Mahama some of the Council of State members are willing to help the new administration with their experience and knowledge in whatever form it takes.
“I have been asked to indicate to you that some of us may still be interested in continuing but some are tired and old but I suspect that the mental capacity that they bring to this task is still available” Prof. Awoonor said.
