The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has reaffirmed former President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to improving the quality of education at all levels of the educational ladder.

She said that, apart from improving upon the free education policy to make it better by bringing an end to the double-track system, the NDC would also set up tertiary educational campuses, particularly in the new regions.

The NDC running mate made this known when she represented His Excellency John Dramani Mahama at the Meko Bono Festival in Techiman on Saturday, accompanied by Her Excellency, the former First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, and other former government appointees and parliamentary candidates.

The Meko Bono festival is an event to promote the cultural history and identity of the Bono people, as well as preach peace and ensure unity.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured that the NDC remains committed to providing sustainable jobs for the teeming youth, focusing on vocational and technical education.

She stressed that peace and unity are premised on justice and respect for all, and not a select few, adding that the NDC is committed to ensuring peaceful elections.

The NDC running mate also admonished people who deliberately and wilfully denigrate the reputation, hard work, and integrity of others to desist from it, saying that time and posterity would always vindicate the clean and righteous.

She commended the chiefs and people of Bono for their significant contribution to Ghana’s development and for holding the festival, which was graced by traditional leaders as well as sons and daughters of the Bonoland from all walks and facets of life.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the ceremony is a testament to the beautiful and rich culture of the Bono people and reaffirms the cultural diversity in Ghana.
