Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Cape Coast and its environs, have been urged to close their ranks and throw their support behind Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the newly-elected Chairman for the Central Regional branch of the party.

They are, therefore, requested to break their camps and loyalty for the various contestants in the Chairmanship race in the just-ended Regional Delegates Elections, and rally solidly behind the winner, in order to unite the party for victory in the 2016 Elections.

Mr. Isaac Kingsley Edzii, NDC Propaganda Secretary for the Cape Coast North Constituency, gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.

Speaking after the party’s Delegates Elections at the University of Cape Coast campus on Saturday, Mr. Edzii said, “the two main teams in the party must now sort out their differences since the election was over and strategize to garner more seats for the party in the Central Region and also retain the Presidential mantle.

In what he referred to as going round the party circles in the region as “team SAY” and “team Allotey” respectively, referring to the Mr. Samuel Adu Yeboah, the former Regional Chairman of the party on one side and Mr. Allotey Jacobs who won the Chairmanship seat on the other, he called on the two camps to disband these so-called teams.

The Propaganda Secretary noted that the party’s interest was above all other individual interests, and underscored the need for the party faithfuls who truly had the interest of the party at heart to put the results behind them, and gird their loins for Election 2016.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs defeated the incumbent Chairman with 127 votes, with Mr. Adu Yeboah amassing 79 votes. The two other contestants for the Chairmanship slot, Dr. Don Arthur and Mr. Kakra Yalley had 2 and 37 ballots respectively.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs, after being declared the new Central Regional Chairman of the NDC party, was quoted as saying, “the 17 Constituency seats for the region was minimal and that he was going to ensure that come 2016, the party was going to win more seats in the region.”

It was based on this premise that Mr. Edzii had appealed to the conscience of all party supporters in the region, including Mr. Adu Yeboah and his supporters, to throw their weight behind the new Chairman to realize that dream.

He congratulated Mr. Allotey Jacobs and all winners in the elections, and pleaded with the vanquished to relegate partisanship to the background, and support the leadership of the party for the country’s development.
