James Kwabena Bomfeh, the former General Secretary of the CPP, has challenged former President John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) to recover from the embarrassment caused by their 2020 election petition case.

Former President Mahama accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of rigging the 2020 elections in favor of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and subsequently filed a lawsuit challenging the Jean Mensa-led Commission's declaration of Nana Addo as the winner.

The petition, heard by Supreme Court judges, resulted in a ruling in favor of President Nana Akufo-Addo. This verdict is believed by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and some sections of the Ghanaian populace to have vindicated both the President and the Electoral Commission.

Addressing Mr. Mahama's and his party's frequent verbal attacks against the election supervisor, James Kwabena Bomfeh, also known as Kabila, dared them to publicly disclose the results they obtained from the 2020 elections to support their claim of victory.

It is worth recalling that the then General Secretary of the NDC, now Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, admitted during the party's internal elections following the Supreme Court ruling that they had "no evidence" during their petition.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Kabila stated, "They published for all of us to see that His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama had 50.15%, whereas His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo had 47.75%. They published this in their headquarters... while all the newspapers and media houses were reporting that Nana Addo had an overwhelming win. That is what they used to trigger some of the violence that occurred in some areas, claiming they won but were rigged."

"I want to throw this challenge to the NDC and former President Mahama: if they are truly committed to peaceful elections in 2024, they should do us a favor by showing us the results they got, for which reason they claimed they won the 2020 elections but were denied by the Electoral Commission," he added.
