Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has described chiefs who support former President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December 2024 elections as "nation-wreckers."

According to Dr. Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, any chief, imam, or fetish priest who votes for Mahama does not have the nation's best interests at heart.

Speaking during his campaign tour in Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, Napo condemned what he called "scathing attacks" by Mahama against traditional leaders during his recent campaign tours.

He contrasted his own approach of showing respect and seeking blessings from chiefs with Mahama's alleged insults toward the same traditional leaders.

He called on chiefs among others to punish Mahama in the upcoming elections.

"I go to the chiefs to beg for their blessings for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the upcoming elections. But all Mahama does is speak ill of them," Napo remarked.

He went on to accuse Mahama of hypocrisy, stating that when Mahama was in power, he paid homage to chiefs, but now, according to NAPO, he only criticizes them.

"As a party, we revere chiefs, imams, and fetish priests, which is why I visit them to seek their blessings. But if you're a chief and you vote for someone who has repeatedly denigrated you, you're a nation-wrecker," he added.
