Kyebi(E/R), Nov.1, GNA- The Akyem Abuakwa Queenmothers Association says it is inspired by the election of one of its members in the District Assembly elections held last month, and that others would be studying her experience in order to replicate it in future. Speaking at the inauguration of the East Akim District Assembly at Kyebi last Monday, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua called on the members to honour the promises they made to their electorate during their campaigns ahead of the elections.

The East Akim District Chief Executive, Mr Emmanuel Victor Asihene, urged the newly elected members of the Assembly to adopt consensus-building in their deliberations and not partisan politics. Mr Asihene also warned the new members of the Assembly to stay clear of chieftaincy matters and that they have no authority to dissolve funeral committees in their electoral areas.

She advised the members of the Assembly to be concern about security and should be the first to inform the District Assembly of any threat to the security in their electoral areas for the necessary action.

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr Kobina T. Hammond, read the President's inaugural address to the members, who were later sworn into office by the Kibi District Magistrate, Mr Charles B. Nimako. Later, the Assembly re-elected Mr S. A. Asante, the incumbent Presiding Member, to preside over their meetings.

He polled 31 votes as against nine ballots by his sole challenger, Mr William Yamba, an Assembly Member.
